TOY RAT PUPS.COM  GUARANTEE

Your New Puppy:

1.  We offer a full two year guarantee against genetic defects in your new dog.  If you decide to  have OFA x-rays  done, they must be done  by a licensed vet (of your choice) before your dog's two year birthday.    We will give you a replacement puppy ( same sex)  if the rating is below fair (OFA), still allowing you to keep your first pet.  You must never allow your pet to become fat as this is the number one cause of hip dysplasia in dogs. Choose a kibble based on the ingredients on the bag. Usually the first ingredient listed is the main ingredient and if the protein is listed somewhere in the 3rd or 4th item, then you will find that the ingredients are less than desirable.   In addition your new puppy should not go jogging with you until after six months nor shall he be allowed to jump up or down from excessive heights (truck tailgates,  etc.).

2.  We offer a one year satisfaction/temperament guarantee.  We try to place the right temperament dog in the home that most suits it.  You must  stay in contact with us about any behavior problems you may be having and we will try to help.  If you have small children you must supervise them with your  small puppy at all times.  Small children must never tease, or play rough games with your new puppy.  Set your puppy up in a win-win situation at all times when children are present.  If there is a temperament problem that cannot be resolved we will trade your puppy with a new puppy from the litter of our choice.  We will choose the new puppy on his personality, not sex or color.

3.  We offer no guarantee as to size of your new pet.  Our dogs have many proven generations of toys and miniatures, however a cropout to a standard is still possible.  We will try to estimate the approximate size at maturity.  We also occasionally get "Toys" that will mature under 13".

Getting Your New Puppy Home:

1.  Your puppy will have his first *puppy shot at six weeks.  He will need his first booster at nine weeks. To qualify your puppy for his 2 year guarantee you must take him to a 10 week check up with a licensed vet.  This is a good time to discuss any problems or concerns about your puppy with your vet.  If there are any problems at this time please contact us as well.  Your puppy will be **wormed at 4 weeks and again at 6 weeks.  After that it is up to your vet to decide if this needs to be done again.  Save your vet receipt from your 9 week visit in your puppies file.

2.  We start your puppy on eggs and dry puppy food.  It is a small kibble, easy to chew and digest.  Once you have your puppy home, do not choose a "growth formula" or add canned food or milk to the kibble.  Do not overfeed your puppy!  A fat dog/puppy is not a healthy one.  Your dog should be full-fleshed, ribs not showing but easily felt.  It is best to feed two or three small meals a day instead of one big one.  We start your puppy on Nu-Vet Labs vitamins and in order to qualify for this guarantee, you must keep your puppy on Nu-Vet. Failure to keep your puppy on these vitamins will not only affect it's health, but will void this guarantee. We firmly believe in Nu-Vet as a wonderful suppliment for your dog. Buyer will continue to give puppy 1 NuVet Plus wafer each day which is a powerful antioxidant that gives a tremendous boost to the immune system to prevent skin and coat problems and creates a defense against over fifty major diseases INCLUDING HIP AND ELBOW DISPLASIA, and extending the life span of your dog. This can only be ordered by calling 1-800-474-7044, order code-62822. A sample and brochure on the NuVet Plus wafer is provided, for less than 30 cents a day you can help to insure your puppies health!

3.  Toy Rat Terriers are very easy to potty train!  It does take some work on your part though.  Your first two weeks watch your puppy very carefully.  When he wakes up from his naps, and after he eats  he will need to go outside.  Wait with your puppy  and praise him as he goes.  If he has a accident in the house remember he is just a baby.  Usually a sharp "NO" and a disappointed"Bad Dog" are all that's needed to get the point across.  We don't spank young puppies who don't know right from wrong.

Registering your Toy Rat Terrier:

1.  When you send in your papers to UKC you will need to send $25. and the registration papers we provide.  You can send in your papers at any time but if you are unsure if your puppy is going to be a mini or a toy,  it is a good idea to wait until 8 months of age.  Your puppy will have reached most of it's height by then.
